Banasura Sagar Dam

Banasura Sagar Dam, which impounds the Karamanathodu tributary of the Kabini River, is part of the Indian Banasurasagar Project consisting of a dam and a canal project started in 1979.

Situated about 15 km from Kalpetta, the dam holds a large expanse of water and its picturesque beauty is enhanced by the chain of mountains seen on the backdrop.  It is constructed in the Banasura Lake and the nearby mountains are known as Banasura Hills. Legends say that the Asura king of Banasura, (the son of King Mahabali, who is believed to visit Kerala during every Onam festival) undertook a severe penance on the top of these hills and thus it was named after him.  The scenic mountains beckon adventure tourists and the dam site is an ideal starting point for trekking.

During monsoon, visitors may also be able to see small islands in the dam’s reservoir. They are formed while the flooded reservoir submerges the surrounding areas too.  The vast expanse of the crystal clear water of the dam dotted with small islands is a photographer’s delight.

Keralamkundu Waterfalls

Keralamkundu waterfalls is a natural wonder in the valley of western ghats, that is formed due to the cascade on a large rock over many centuries.  To see the flow of medicated water flowing from the western ghats forests, forming a water falls and flowing into a huge stone pit, is a must for each tourist.

Besides this Keralamkundu waterfalls there are sceneries like Koombanmala, Kodimala waterfalls, Chenchilappara, Swapnakkundu waterfalls, British Bungalow, world’s largest mango tree, which invites tourists towards here. It is certain that there are no other village in this world like this which is admired by tourists due to its varieties.

Seetharkundu

                          Seetharkundu fall is bordered by paddy fields which can be reached from Palakkad as well. The waterfall is situated in an area which is famous for its organic farms that are engaged in coffee and tea cultivation.
Water here plunges from a height of 100 ft.

Alappuzha Beach

Alappuzha beach is one of the major tourist spot in Alappuzha town. Alappuzha Lighthouse situated near to the beach. Beach is accessible through various town roads and an elevated highway will passing by the beach as part of Alappuzha bypass in order to preserve the beauty of the area. Camel safaris was another attraction in beach which introduced a couple of years ago but it got banned by authorities

Kovalam Beach

                                                  Kovalam is a small coastal town in the southern Indian state of Kerala, south of Thiruvananthapuram. At the southern end of Lighthouse Beach is a striped lighthouse with a viewing platform. Palm-backed beaches also include Hawa Beach and Samudra Beach. Heading south, Vizhinjam Juma Masjid mosque overlooks the busy fishing harbor. Inland, Sagarika Marine Research Aquarium displays technology used in pearl production.
